HISTORY
RO-NI'S ORIGINS

Vibrations. In everything I do I always find a physical quantity which is the vibration. As an engineer, I dealt with many things, with many analyzes, in various sectors, where I was called, but even when it was not the main theme there was always an element present that I studied in depth: vibrations. In all this exciting work with me there was always a watch, strictly mechanical, and every time I dwelled on the vibrations, I stopped for a few moments to listen to the ticking of the clock. The thought was always the same: but will these vibrations damage my dear watch?

As a sportsman and enthusiast I have practiced and practiced various sports, thus descending from a mountain on the saddle of a bicycle, riding a trial or cross or travel motorbike, on a pair of skis, on a tennis court, on a car track, but also listening to a violin, in short, wherever I was the gaze always fled to the dear watch asking me for a moment: what will be happening there inside the tiny pulsating engine in the midst of all these vibrations?
After a few years of attending the off-road motorcycle preparation workshop of my dear brother, a great trainer in the orbit of off-road motorcycles of the various international and world championships, observing the handwork of some engine heads and beauty of the various mirror-polished components that are enclosed where the gasoline bursts, an unstoppableā€¦ desire gradually came to me. I said to my brother: I want to bring the technique of engines into the clock, the "race" technique, a technique that has been passionate about for years. He did not stop working and told me .... "Here there is everything and all the most hi-tech materials that can be found and fortunately they have been tested in extreme conditions for years". Since that time, there hasn't been a second in my life where a part of my mind didn't constantly think about my Hyperwatch. Yes, that's the Hyperwatch.
But why the Hyperwatch? I will not dwell on the complex and articulated topic that we could discuss for days, but basically I say that the goal is to create watches that perform both in the laboratory and in life and in the most varied use that everyone wants to make of them.

To do this, it was necessary to innovate and think differently about the concept of a timepiece which is traditionally focused on movement. I am not a watchmaker and I firmly believe that the fantastic creators of the 19th century defined what had to be defined and that today the best Swiss production ateliers know how to perfect. Therefore, having identified the best workshop in which to develop the engine, it was necessary to create an integrated system around it to protect the beating heart. The car, the supercar or rather the hypercar: as a great lover of the genre, I still had to deepen the subject with great passion, but in the end, excluding the electronics for a moment, the question of dominating forces was the concept of handling. Handling, as far as I am concerned, I understand it as an integrated system for managing and setting the dynamics of the car. Ok, we're there I have to create the handling for my hyperwatches. And so the theme of vibration absorption systems and materials that by nature were themselves vibration absorbers or dissipators was born. Then the idea of an even more advanced watch with a real integrated three-dimensional suspension system. For a few months the circle of ideas did not close but on a Sunday afternoon, while I was watching the F1 GP with my father, I saw in slow motion the behavior of the car's suspension on impact with the curb: finished. It was Sunday, I immediately ran to my studio where on each table there were carbon fibers of all kinds and thicknesses scattered, I took a file, a canvas and slowly rudimentary I went to create a carbon fiber slat that oscillated in every direction: it was born a wonder that today is called RT-1.
The perfect design could be a problem deriving from the personal tastes of the actors and evaluators involved. But I decided that no one could give judgment and therefore the definition of the lines had to be entrusted to the history of art, to the masters I have studied so much in my school and work paths. The answer is only one: to rely on the golden ratio. The perfect proportions established by the golden ratio dictated by the masters have defined the lines of our design of which we are only final executors. The suppliers of the special materials were not a problem thanks to my brother's know-how and a series of lucky but not accidental coincidences, in fact, after the first watches, the doors of important ateliers that produce the best movements for watches in the world of fine watchmaking were opened to me.

Manufacturing as a manual art for the realization and finishing of components is an added value that we give to hi-tech watches to combine engineering and art. The art of the file and manual finishing on metals is an art that I have observed for decades in the hands of my father and even this added value I did not have to invent but was in the family DNA. To think, to stop and concentrate, to have a free mind, to have the oxygen that reaches the most remote but necessary points there has been and will always be only the Engadine, the Swiss Alps, St. Moritz: the where the vibrations are perfect. And that is why we have located ourselves in this land. This is a beloved land, where since I was 6, between Davos and St. Moritz, I spent the summers, where my paternal grandfather worked and my maternal grandfather traded, where I spent the best moments of life and where I feel at home.Where my mind, under the snowflakes, gave birth to this dream.

I never stopped, the brand was born, RO-NI, Nicola Rosa, a structure was born, the research is constant, the desire of the team is constant, the requests for participation in the study and development are increasingly present and the spirit of innovation grows every day in us and in our precious supporters.

Nothing comes by chance.
